Getting to Art Town

Art Town Mänttä-Vilppula is located in northern Pirkanmaa, halfway between Tampere and Jyväskylä, about an hour’s drive from both cities. In addition to driving, you can reach Art Town by train, bus, boat or plane.

Driving

Art Town is easy to reach by car! Mänttä-Vilppula is located in upper Pirkanmaa, halfway between Tampere and Jyväskylä along main road 58, an hour’s drive from both cities. You can use the map service to plan your itinerary.

Art Town has several boat harbours for locals and visitors in Vilppula, Kolho, Pohjaslahti and Mänttä. The facilities at the Vilppula and Pohjaslahti boat harbours include toilets, showers, electricity, septic tank emptying and waste disposal.

The Sassi gravel airstrip (runway size 750 m x 18 m) is located in Mänttä. The closest filling station, an unstaffed Teboil station, is located about 200 metres from the airstrip. Please visit lentopaikat.fi (in Finnish only) for more information on the airstrip.

Public transport

You can also reach Art Town by train: Tampere – Vilppula – Haapamäki – Jyväskylä. The train journey from Tampere to Vilppula takes about one hour. Mänttä is only 7 kilometres from Vilppula train station. Please visit the VR website for up-to-date train schedules.

From Vilppula train station, you can reach the town centre of Mänttä by taxi or bus. To order a taxi, call 0100 4711 (Mäntän taksi).

There is a bus station in Mänttä, and the buses also stop in Vilppula. The bus journey from Tampere and Jyväskylä to Art Town takes about one hour.
